I like the buildquality of the quad together with all the nicely made TPU protections. Flies great ouf of the box, however, my esc died after the first flight and I wasn't even gunning it! One of the fet's exploded. (4S battery). The motors mounted are 770 watts with 16.8V is calculated amps rating of 48A on a 50A ESC. Perhaps a higher rated ESC would have been a better idea, or I was just unlucky idk. I ordered some fet's in order to repair it and got a HW XRotor 60amp ESC on order as backup. Bummer
Update to my original review
This was my first FPV quad, though I had flown LOS helis before. FPV itself isn't a huge leap from flying LOS except for not needing to worry about all the other angles. The Vampire 2 is a strong quad - I've run this into brick walls, tree trunks, metal signs, and more with little damage beyond scuff marks. The weakest part of the frame is the two small "sandwich" brackets holding the arms on, but that still took a desync and drop from the sky at full-bore to break.
The betaflight 4.2 tune for Fast Freestyle makes this a performant quad. With the GPS on it, I was ripping at upwards of 80km/h across the ground. It's fast and agile with the GOKU50S6 ESC easily able to deliver the power needed for freestyle tricks. The FC would be nice if it had a DJI connector instead of the need to solder directly to the FC.
Overall, great quad worth every penny. Highly recommended if you're looking for a tight turning, nimble quad. It's definitely more of a racer than a freestyler, but still performs smoothly.
Looks great but feel like its so compact maybe its reception is not as good as other dji quads i fly not as good of distance and ive failsafed a cpl times
I got the Vampire 2 about two weeks ago and I've flown several batteries on it. It's solidly constructed - I've run this into a brick wall, a few trees, and a sidewalk at full speed when video dropped. It performs really well and I'm looking forward to getting to know this drone better.
The only complaint I have is the ESC connector. It sits at the front of the board, facing forward. It's sandwiched between the bottom plate and the board but it's just soldered on. After a few impacts, the solder joints loosened and eventually let go. After several attempts to reattach the connector it still reports one of the ESC's is in error. I might try soldering the wires on directly, but ordered a new ESC to fix this. Not ideal.. maybe some sort of padding around the connector to absorb shock when the eventual collision occurs.
Received the vampire 2 and it looks great. Won't get to fly it for a while (still in training). Wasn't sure if the note about calibrating the motors was relevant as it was already assembled but will check before putting the props on.
